Onetahua Waka Ama club celebrate 10th anniversary

Thank you to Onetahua Marae and Onetahua Waka Ama club for hosting the folks from over the hill to the 10 yr celebration of your Waka Ama club and Top of the South Winter Waka Ama Series.

A lovely sunny day for quad-series racing and tiki touring at Onetahua yesterday – thanks to the organisers, steerers, paddlers and supporters who make it all possible, and especially to Onetahua Marae, it was beautifully special to acknowledge your tenth anniversary there!

“What can I say, we were treated like royalty – from the moment we gathered, we were called on, welcomed in the ancient way with sharing of breathe and mutual respect, to words of ceremony, amazing Kai, then the story telling by Si. A rich and memorable time.

Thank you to everyone involved for making this such a special trip. Sweet memories, sweet people, sweet times. Thank you”

“A big thank you from me and Ryan Roach for the warm welcome and hospitality this weekend up in Pohara. Such a beautiful place with beautiful people.”

Thanks to Jeff for lending his new, powerful, comfy, dry, safe as, truck to tow Waka over the hill for the weekend, and for Evan for driving over. A safe drive with Kilmeny, Julie and Rongomai tailing us. A group effort. Somethings you just can’t do on your own. People supporting people.
