Tuna e Hoe Ana

With just a month to go until our annual race at Lake Rotoiti on 11th-12th February, and with two weeks to go until entries close, it is looking like TEHA 2022 will be the biggest event we have ever run.

Contrary to expectations we have already had more entries than ever and we are projecting more crews on the water in each race and more than 200 people at the dinner. This has necessitated us slightly amending the race distances : we have split the men’s and women’s races into separate events and reduced the longer distance race to 7.5km to allow us to get through the schedule.

The knock-on effect of all these entries is that the event will make a nice fundraising total for the club. But it also means a lot of extra work on the day from registration and Vaccine Pass checks, through safety checks, timekeeping and results to making the dinner work as efficiently as possible. The race committee has done a lot of preparation work but the success on the day will depend entirely on us having enough volunteers to make things work.

Crew captains will be contacted to roster participants onto positions but if you are not participating and would be willing to help please contact Kiri on [email protected]
